Lock-Down Work

Great Grandad John

My mum has taught me all about

A soldier who was great!

My Great Grandad John

She said you served in WW2

From 39-42

With courage, strength and bravery

You left your home and family.

Not knowing what might be ahead

You boarded upon the train mum said

Hugged goodbye your mum and dad

And off you went.

On April 25th each year

We make our wreaths and poppies too

It is so special to remember you

Nana gets the photos out

Medal, albums, and diaries all about.

They tell us about what you went through

And make me feel so proud of you too.

Going Back to School!

New Zealand is now in Alert Level 2, that means we are allowed to go back to school. I was super excited to see my friends. I am really enjoying these first days of school, because I didn’t really like the homeschooling. We had been homeschooling for about 5 weeks. I have really enjoyed making our title pages for our new topics this term. I am really glad to be back and I am super happy we have really low numbers of Covid-19.

100wc #32

One night a girl found an old hut in the pine trees, she thought it would be a good idea to go up there and explore. Inside the hut was a big mess, everything was tipped over. The the girl left and decided to come back tomorrow. When she arrived the next day she, started to clean everything up and make the hut her’s. Little did she know that a baby fox had been living in there and sleeping in a pile of old blankets. She went to pick it up and said “but should I really do this, ahhh.”

100wc Week #30

For the past month NZ has been in lockdown, but not to long ago we moved to level 3, which means we can do more stuff in town but not too much. When we were in full lockdown we couldn’t get takeaways, but now we can. I am really excited for when my sporting activities start back up, but I can’t wait to see all my family and friends. I partly liked lockdown, because we did a lot of crafts and we lead all our pet calves lots. I think that the lockdown has been a really cool experience.

Dairy Entry, 16 April, 2020

Today I started my work early in the morning, then I went on FaceTime with Mrs Campbell and the other year 7s. I had a toastie for lunch and then I went to measure the paddock in front of our house for our maths task today. I came inside and posted some work on seesaw and I think I might go for a walk to the calves/cows this afternoon!

Lockdown Experience

During the lockdown my family and I had a picnic up in the forest beside our house. It made me think how lucky we are to live on a farm that has a lot of space, especially during this lockdown. Then before we left the forest we had a scavengerhunt, we had to find things like the tiniest pinecone and a feather it was surprisingly hard. My favourite thing about the picnic was that I got to spend quality time with my family, when I usually would have been at school! In the end I felt really happy that I was in an amazing environment and with the people I love!

100 Word Challenge – Week #24

Squirt’s Side of the Story

“Help, a shark” I yelled, trying to swim away. Bruce was chasing me, I screamed “Dory, Nemo come help.” Dory and Nemo grabbed one of my flippers each, trying to pull me away. “I’m trying to hold on” he said, still holding on to me. Then finally they pulled me away, from Bruce the Shark. Later Nigel the pelican came in and ate Bruce the shark, to save all the other little turtles.

The End!

My favourite Book!

My favourite book would have to be Juliet Nearly a Vet, farm friends , which is book 3 out of the whole series. It is about a girl who is 10 years old named Juliet, she wants to be a vet, and it is spring meaning that all the baby animals are being born! She has baby ducklings and chicks to look after, orphan lambs and Bella the cow is having a calf. When I am older I would like to be a vet so when I found this books series they were very interesting. She has tips and tricks throughout the book about how to be a vet. I love reading this book and I recommend them for girls aged 8-10 years old.

Perseverance Story

Hi there, this week I am writing about a story of when I persevered,

A time I have persevered was when we was on my first Rm 1 camp in 2019, we travelled to Christchurch. On Tuesday we went across the road to Adrenalin Forest, I was really nervous and I didn’t want to do it because I was really scared of the height. There were different levels, I started on level one which was really easy, then I moved onto level two, which was also a bit scary. I climbed up the stairs clipped on my belt and went across the first thing then, I panicked and ran down the stairs, later I had another go on level one. I was so scared and then my friends parents came over and helped me they took me to level 3B and I really enjoyed it.
